I’ve had an email from someone who wants to know if it’s possible to sync up a Wii Guitar Hero controller for use with Rock Band. Well, the bad news is that you can’t - which is a shame because I know you can with the 360. So unfortunately you’ll have to buy a controller specifically for Rock Band separately.

Konami has released the official soundtrack to its best-selling Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots title for the PS3. Scored by long-term Metal Gear associate and Hollywood artist, Harry Gregson-Williams, the 16-track CD features melodious, stirring tracks written for the blockbuster stealth-action title. No doubt it will take less time to listen to the soundtrack than watch the game.

The limited Galactic Edition of the highly-anticipated game from the creators of The Sims has just been announced today. This special box will contain the ‘Making of Spore’ DVD, ‘The Art of Spore‘ hardback mini-book, a fold-out Spore poster, and a premium 100-page Galactic Handbook. The Galactic Edition will also feature a DVD documentary from the National Geographic Channel called ‘How to Build a Better Being‘.

Log into the PlayStation store on June 26th and you can download an encyclopaedia for Metal Gear Solid 4. If all those long cut scenes confused you, you can read everything about the game and Snake’s history from 1987 to the present day at your leisure for free! The easy to use system allows users to search via three central hubs: GENE (a glossary), MEME (which maps the relationships between characters in the series), and SCENE (a timeline for the series). Users can jump from page to page using specific keywords, with the relevant information appearing instantly. All information relating to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, however, can only be accessed when the software detects a save data file created when the game has been completed, as to avoid spoiling the final adventure.

So you’ve been practicing Rock Band and Guitar Hero and figure you are good enough to make the stage. Bands looking for their big break should visit the official website at www.rockstarbands.co.uk, download the entry form, fill it in then return it before June 19th 2008 to ensure their entry is received and ready to be judged. Some kind of musical skill might be in order too, although a quick listen to Radio 1 might make you think otherwise. You can win a set at Glastonbury, a recording session with 80’s star Peter Gabriel and a headline slot at the famous (?) Pilton Party alongside Scouting For Girls.

According to the press release “RockStar 08 open to everyone, young old, groups or soloists, with the only stipulation being that any entrant must be unsigned and ready to lay everything on the line in the pursuit for ultimate victory”.

It’s just been announced that Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear games, will be at HMV 150 Oxford Street, London to sign exclusive HMV pre-order sleeves for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Lead artist Yoji Shinkawa will also be there to sign sleeves available to the first 300 people to pre-order a copy from 9am on the 2nd June. Get there early if you want to meet the maverick games maker as their time is strictly limited!
