Point and Click adventures don’t come much funnier than TellTale’s Dog and Bunny detective series and things don’t change here in the latest episode of Sam & Max in the Devils Playhouse for PC and PS3.
At the end of Sam and Max in The Devils Playhouse we saw the gruesome results of drastic brain surgery upon Max. We all know that Max had gained psychic powers and it appears that even out of his furry little body, Max’s brain is very much sought after. Previous to this Sam and Max had just finished reliving the adventures of their ancestors Sammus and Maximus via several interactive film reels. Here we found out more about the Devils Playbox and the Psychic Toys that grant special powers to those able to use them successfully.
Without realising it; Sam and Max are embroiled in mystery that has been in play since the days of Ancient Egypt. But how will Sam cope as he is forced to work solo in a bid to figure out who sawed Max’s head open and stole his brain, if I told you now I’d be spoiling things but what I can tell you is that Sam is no happy dog. Fuelled with rage Sam will have to interrogate a number of suspects before he can get on the trail to finding that twisted rabbits cerebral matter, you’ll encounter many characters you’ve met before as well a few new ones to the series.
Just like the previous episodes you can expect a solid 8-10 hours of gameplay along with many more fiendish logic (and plenty of dislogic) puzzles. There are no changes to the graphics and audio to mention, the imaginative retro and somewhat psychedelic visuals return along with hours more of well-acted witty dialogue.
If you love the previous Sam and Max games then like me you’ll really enjoy the whole Devils Playbox series. Sam and Max – They Stole Max’s Brain scores 8 out of 10 and continues this rather fine point and click adventure series.
